Paul Samson
Consultant General Surgeon
Paul Samson is a Consultant General Surgeon in Public and Private practice in Invercargill. He completed High School in the Southland region and his medical training at Otago University. Following several years as a junior doctor in Southland Hospital, he went on to complete Specialist General Surgical Training in New Zealand's Major Metropolitan Hospitals. He returned to Southland Hospital in 2010 after completing a Fellowship in Breast & Endocrine Surgery at North Shore Hospital, Auckland.
Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Member of the New Zealand Association of General Surgeons. He is a Member of the Breast Section Australasian College of Surgeons, the Australasian Society for Breast Disease, and the Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand. He is Accredited for Endoscopy and Colonoscopy by the NZ Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Paul is Senior Lecturer in Clinical Surgery for the University of Otago and has multiple published works in both the Surgical and Medical literature. He is currently a New Zealand representative on the Breast Quality Audit for Breast Surgeons of Australia & New Zealand, a member of the Medical Advisory Committee to the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation, and a surgeon representative on the Clinical Governance Committees for Southern Cross Hospital's in Invercargill and Queenstown. Paul is Principal Investigator for HNZ Southern with the Breast Cancer Registry and Lead Surgeon for Breast Screen Otago & Southland.
